ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence) is European standard for confirming knowledge and skills in working on PCs.
What is ICDL?
ICDL (International Computer Driving Licence) the standard is completely equal to ECDL standard, with the difference that ECDL is the standard for Europe and ICDL the standard for the rest of the world.
Who is the supervisor for the ECDL/ICDL programme?
ECDL programme is a project of Council of European Professional Informatics Societies – CEPIS, and it is accepted by numerous national informatics societies.

For installing, functioning and control of ECDL programme for whole world authorized is European Computer Driving Licence Foundation, with residence in Dublin, Ireland.

ECDL Foundation is organisation founded by members of European Union with the goal for standardisation of content and criteria of valuation of knowledge and skills for gaining ECDL certificate, coordination and supervision of all activities concerning ECDL and ICDL, and improving and development of each module together with spreading the idea of ECDL/ICDL.
Where is possible to test for ECDL certificate in BiH?
To gain ECDL certificate possible is to test in any licensed test centre (For details - TEST CENTRES)
Is it possible to test for ECDL certificate without previously finished education?
If a candidate concerns to have needed education in specific subjects it is allowed to approach the testing.
What kind of ECDL certificates exist?
There are several kinds of ECDL certificates, but for a time receivable are only two in B&iH:
• ECDL Start
• ECDL certificate (complete)
Do you have to pass IT module for ECDL start?
No, it is not necessary.
ECDL start could be gained after passing any four of seven modules.
Is it possible to approach the testing for more than one module in one day?
It is possible (even all seven modules).
In which countries in Europe and in the world is ECDL/ICDL approved?
ECDL/ICDL exists in 135 countries in the world. All members of EU approved ECDL certificate like official certificate for using computers.
ECDL concept support: European Union, UNESCO, World Bank and governments of many countries.
In the world act at the moment more than 15.000 test centres in 132 countries. Testing is conducted in 27 different languages. In Great Britain work more than 4.000 test centres, in Ireland 1.100, in Sweden 1.800, in France 400, in Austria 200, in Hungary 150, in Slovenia 18, etc.
If I own ECDL certificate, is it easier to get a job in BiH or abroad?
Yes, because today is one of the criteria for any job computer knowledge.
All EU members approved ECDL certificate like official certificate for using computer.
ECDL certificate is generally approved standard for proving knowledge and skills in working on PC, for it:
• represent basic computer skills convenient for all users
• increase informatics literacy in society
• represent model for education and examination of informatics knowledge
• ease active participation of the individual in informatics society.
What is a procedure of testing for ECDL certificate?
Testing for ECDL certificate is conducted in licensed test centres under supervision of test leaders. Testing is conducted in interactive way on internet. Number of questions and duration of test are limited. Test results are available immediately after testing.

Is there any literature for ECDL?
The literature includes seven brochures (for each module) completed by teachers from licensed ECDL test centres . - Look for the content of brochures
How many times could be examined for ECDL certificate?
The number of examinations is not limited, but for every testing must be paid. Time gap between two succeeded testing must be at least 48 hours.
Is it knowledge of English language necessary for testing for ECDL?
For the questions for testing are translated in BHS languages it is not needed to have knowledge of English, but candidates who would like to be tested in English could have this possibility with previous announcement.
How can I be a member of the Association?
Members of the Association could be:
• Permanent members – legal persons
• Permanent members – private persons
• joined members
Legal persons become members of the Association after claim for joining and given statement of accepting the mission and goals states in the Statute of the Association.
Together with the application for the membership has to be given an extract from register of court having jurisdiction, where this legal person is registered and decision for applying for membership made by authorised individuals for the legal person who applies.
These members are paying year membership due in the amount defined in separate decision.
Private persons who become members of the Association, after application for the membership and statement for accepting the mission and goals stated in the Statute of the Association. These members are paying year membership due in the amount defined in separate decision.
Joined members of the Association could be private persons who contribute with their activities realisation of mission and goals of the Association.
Proposal for joined member have to give at least three members of Board of directors of the Association.
